Composer, conductor, musicologist, and teacher, Mark Nelson holds degrees in music from Yale, University of Illinois, and Princeton. A devotee of experimental music of the twentieth century, he founded new-music ensembles and electronic-music programs at Lake Forest College, Wabash College, and several independent secondary schools. His publications include studies of the music of Béla Bartók, Charles Ives, Ruth Crawford Seeger, and John Cage. Currently teaching, conducting, and singing with diverse organizations in New Hampshire and Vermont, he is committed to broadening the aesthetic horizons and deepening the artistic understanding of young people and adults.
