Shem Guibbory, Violin with Piano – Georges Enesco, Impressions D’Enfance Peter Laytin, 37 Photographic Images (images ©Peter Laytin, all rights reserved). Performance duration approximately 30 minutes; joint presentation with Peter Laytin and post-performance discussion also available.
Performed live with violin, piano and displayed images, this performance work presents two separate narratives from different art forms (music and photography) which tell distinct, simultaneous, yet related stories.
Below is a sampling of the 37 photographic images that are part of Peter Laytin’s 21st century psychological and emotional journey – one that parallels the 19th century romantic musical journey of violinist/composer George Enesco depicting his childhood memories. In the sample below, a single image from each music movement is linked with a short music sample.
